Premium performance rigid phenolic insulation manufactured by market leader Kingspan Insulation was chosen for the prestigious Foundation Building which has become the new Head Quarters for the University of Liverpool.
This new building which stands on the corner of Brownlow Hill has created an elongated landscape courtyard opening up views of the Lutyens Crypt frontage. Although a modern design, it is composed of limestone and zinc to complement the Cathedrals design palette.
Chosen as the Capital of Culture in 2008, the city is already seeing investment and development and the University of Liverpool is one of the UK’s leading universities renowned for their teaching and research excellence.
Firesafe Installations, Liverpool installed a total of 1,200 square metres of Kingspan Kooltherm® K10 Soffit Board on the ceiling of the underground car park to thermally insulate between the car parking, service/loading bays and the first floor.
Paul Hilditch of Firesafe Installations said "Kingspan Kooltherm® K10 Soffit Board is a product we use regularly and we knew that as well as being able to meet the high standards required for this project, it was ideally suited as the client was looking for the thinnest way of achieving the insulation and preferred a tissue faced finish rather than the usual foil faced finish."
Kingspan Kooltherm® K10 Soffit Board is a premium performance rigid phenolic board, designed for use under structural ceilings (soffits) The lightweight product achieves a thermal conductivity as low as 0.021 W/m.K and addresses the stringent safety requirements of a public building with a Class O / low risk fire rated insulation core and negligible smoke obscuration. The product, which is CFC/HCFC-free and has zero Ozone Depletion Potential, is also unaffected by air movement and is resistant to the passage of water vapour.
